Lakeview Elementary School offers a variety of reading programs for our students. 1. Literacy Groups: 1st and 2nd graders 4 - 6 students 30 minutes four times per week. Instruction includes: decoding strategies, comprehension strategies, spelling, fluency practice, guided reading, and independent reading. 2. Literacy Partners: 1st graders Intensive 1:1 daily lessons 30 minutes per day. Requires parent support at home. Lesson components include: new book, rereading, writing, word work, and strategy instruction! 3. Read Naturally: computer reading fluency and comprehension program. Students read non fiction books at their level. 4. Kindergarten Lighthouse Learning Lab: Students work in small group centers to improve phonemic awareness, phonics, letter/sound association, and writing of letters and words. 5. LAKEVIEW LENDING LIBRARY: This library is a collection of books leveled for our students. Parent/ students may take home up to 5 books at a time to read and enjoy together!
